The last time I posted was September 14th, 2006. It was a Thursday and the next day was Friday, the 15th, payday. Payday is always a good day. Money comes in, money goes out - it's all very tidal. Little did I know that on Monday morning, I would be receiving another paycheck - my last.

That Friday, the company received a call from their main customer. The company was told that their customer would not be renewing their contract that was set to expire at the end of the year. The following Monday, yours truly and seven other souls were called into a conference room and given the bad news.

To say that I was devastated would be an overstatement. I had actually started looking for a new job in 2005, so this just accelerated the process. By lunchtime, I was home. It was an odd feeling the next morning to know that I didn't have to get in the car and head off to work. And yet, in front of me was so much work to do.

A job search had to be moved into high gear. Unemployment had to be filed for and we had to think about finding a house to rent.

It took me six weeks to land a new position, a six month contract job that started right before Halloween and ran until the end of May. I left the contract behind before I could be offered a permanent position that I would have to refuse and took another contract job with a different firm working for a boss that lives in San Diego. I can work from home if I want or go to the office (I'm still working on the work from home part - there has been technical difficulties but we are getting there).

The road has been long and the time since I last posted seems a distant memory shrouded in mists. We live in a newer house, with rent that is less than my former mortgage payment. The house we used to live in has a For Sale on the front lawn. The bank has owned it since the end of November, but they couldn't take possession of it until the end of May (Michigan foreclosure law). It saddens me not to have the bank own it - goodbye and good riddance. As a family we are better off to be out of there.

The road has been long and I could not have led my family on this journey without the help of The Good Shepherd. Through every dark moment, He was there guiding me and leading down the road. When all of this started, I thought to ask for your prayers and decided otherwise. Now I ask for your prayers - not for me, but for all those who are going through similar troubles. Pray that the Lord Jesus helps and guides them to green pastures and still waters.

Oh Happy Day!

I remember when the local radio station play-by-play guy used to call him "Big Keith Primeau." Size-wize he was a very large player, too bad he never played hockey that way. He was perhaps the worlrds largest skating vagina with a hockey stick.

My heart was gladdened the day that the Red Wings dumped this pussy and his douchebag defenseman Paul Coffey on the Hartford Whalers for Brendan Shanahan. The Whalers dumped Coffey on Philadelphia that same year and decided to keep Primeau around.

This trade happened just before the 1996-1997 NHL season started. It coincindentally also happens to be the year Detroit won the Stanley Cup after 40+ years.

Hartford packed their bags and moved south becoming the Carolina Hurricanes. I recall going to see a first round playoff game in Greensboro in 1999 between Carolina and Boston. I arrived wering my favorite Red Wings shirt, rooted for Boston (I like Sergei Samosonov) and yelled "Primeau Sucks" periodically during the game. I got some real nasty looks for that one.

During an intermission, someone asked why I disliked Keith Primeau, he is, after all a primere player they explained. I proceeded to explain my Primeau-Vaginal theory to them and received blank looks in return. "Someday you will understand", I thought quietly to myself.

Someday finally arrived. Big Keith wanted more money and Carolina showed him the door. In the free agent market of the summer of 2001, Primeau packed his bags and got a nice big contract with Phildelphia. The 2001-2002 season featured Carolina going to the Stanley Cup Finals (are you beginning to sense a pattern here).

They lost the Stanley Cup 4 games to 1 to the other team that dumped Keith Primeau, the Red Wings.

Update:
I'm predicting that the Flyers will probably have a good playoff run.

A discount on the pump price or is it the price to pump?

It seems that in Austrailia, when you fill up at the pump you can get a discount on the price of your next pump. Infidels are dying. The streets are running red with their blood. Somewhere in the world, a martyr is on his way to Paradise for his reward of seventy-two virgins (see below).

Allah be praised.

Sometimes things go horribly wrong and there is no new martyr for Paradise. Only a maimed and crippled man is left. He cannot go to prayers at the mosque. He cannot herd his goats. He cannot satisfy his camel.

How very sad.

Now thanks to the al-Queda Fund, Achmed has a new wheelchair to go to the mosque. With his new prosthetics, Mahmoud can herd his goats. Even poor Musab who was rendered impotent when his bomb misfired has been helped. The al-Queda Fund has given him Viagra and his camel has never been happier!

Allah be praised.

But there is more work that needs to be done and more maimed martyrs-to-be that need our help. Since then, they have spread over a much larger area.

"With the king crabs, we know that they are an enormous crab, today it's about 20 million of them in the Barents Sea. Twenty years ago there were zero."

Mr Hansson says the present annual fishing quota of 300,000 crabs must be increased. Local fishermen agree - too many king crabs ruin their nets.

Currently, Norway is planning on increasing the quota of crabs its fishermen can catch. Personally, I think the ought to drop the quota and declare an open season. If the crabs don't belong there, then they should be fished out.

Let's get the boat fired up boys, it looks like we're having crab for dinner!

The Haloscan comments are gone.

I've decided to use the ones provided by Blogger.

From the middle of the Bible

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”
Psalms 118:8

and now a word from our sponsor

The kid sister is moving out of state. I didn't even mind changing planes in busy airports like Atlanta, Charlotte or Chicago's O'Hare. I could even deal with the sometimes surly and ill-tempered flight attendants. Why? Because there is nothing like busting through a layer of clouds into a clear and sunny sky. There is nothing like the view of the land from thirty thousand feet.

I stopped flying a few months before 9/11. The family was finally together after I took a job back in Michigan. When there is no need to travel large distances in a short time you don't need to fly. After reading this I don't think I'll fly ever again.

It is my deepest hope that this shit rotten theiving, lying stealing government that we have goes to straight to hell. Republicans, Democrats, bureaucrats, lobbyists, reporters and the rest of the camp followers. Lining them up against the wall and shooting them all is too good for them.

Hearing their screams from the deepest pit of Hell is music to my ears.

Until then, I'll drive.

Teaching Popette a new programming language

And here all this time I thought my Programming Perl book was only good as a reference manual and wasn't terribly good at teaching lessons. Oh Popette! Some also claim that it is immoral. None as yet have claimed that it was fattening (although it is hard to tell seeing the rolls of lard hanging off the body politic).

Many site revolved around a piece of the tax code called setion 861. Joesph Bannister is perhaps the most noteworthy among the crowd being a former IRS Criminal Investigation Division Special Agent. Other folks contend that the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified and the income tax as designed is invalid. Others contend that the Buck Act of 1940 created federal districts that overlaid the union states and created federal states that appear like the union state but whose name is spelled with capital letters. They argue that having a Social Security Number or sending mail through the postal service puts a person in the federal state and thus subject to income tax.

While many of these cases have a certain amount of merit, they also raise in the mind questions which are not easily answered. There are some folks out there who have sites that debunk the tax protest arguments, but even they do not completely address the questions that come to mind. That was until I stumbled upon the Team Law website. The site is full of legal information and is a boone to those of us who have never studied law. They have a section that fairly systematically destroys every patroit myth that I have come across while surfing the web. Team Law is a great website and well worth the time for the legal and historical education.

I did find one theme that many tax protest websites have in common: jurisdiction. By some overt action or by subtle conspiracy each system somehow puts a person squarley into the federal jurisdiction and subject to the income tax. Peter Hendrickson author of Cracking The Code also contends that jurisdiction is central to the income tax. He also contends that it is through our ignorance of the Internal Revenue Code (and its supporting body of law) and its labyrinthine method of implementation that we place our earnings under federal jurisdiction voluntarily. By placing our earnings under federal jurisdiction, income can be derived from monies earned and a tax levied.

Peter Hendrickson draws upon US law and Supreme Court cases to arrive at the conclusion that the income tax is an excise and not a direct tax. That an excise tax is a tax on the excercise of some privilege. The excercise of privilige occurs under federal jurisdiction as it relates to the source of income and this income becomes subject to the excise (income) tax. He also argues that non-federally-connected earnings are not subject to income tax, although earnings which are federally-connected are subject to federal taxes.

The kernel of truth that comes from his book is simply this: If people would obey the law, they would find that much of what they earn is not subject to federal taxes. What a novel concept - obey the law and be largely free from the Internal Revenue Service. Using the logic that Hendrickson presents in Cracking the Code it is easy to see that while Vernice Kuglin may have beat the tax evasion charges, her wages are subject to federal income taxes. Why is that? The answer is simple: she holds a FAA pilots license for flying commercial aircraft for FedEx. A license allows its holder to perform some action that would be illegal without said license. It allows her to exercise a federally granted privilege.

Cracking The Code is a book that every American should read. It is concise and uses legally sound reasoning to spell out the legal obligations that we have in paying income taxes.

Did I mention that he got a complete refund of all tax monies surrendered to the IRS including FICA and Medicare taxes? Visit his site and buy and read his book.

From the scientific world

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Governmentium". Governmentium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.

The 311 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.

A minute amount of Governmentium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but, instead undergoes a re-organization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact Governmentium mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of the moron promotion leads scientists to believe Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass". When catalyzed with money Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element which radiates just as much energy, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Thought for today

In Allah's Paradise the only thing virgin is the wool.

Who'd a thunk it?!?

Men don't mind seeing naked women; It read WE'RE HERE, WE'RE QUEER ... AND WE'RE VOTING LIBERTARIAN. It seems the Pink Pistols a group of gun-toting gays has endorsed Badnarik for his stand on the 2nd Amendment.

I find it interesting that groups that might have gone squarely into the Demoncratic camp have decided to shift their allegiance to the Libertarians. While their sexuality may disagree with your religious views, they have the same rights to life, liberty and property that we all have.

"We're excited to endorse the only candidate in this election who stands for equal rights – and the means to defend those rights – for everyone," Douglas L. Krick, founder of Pink Pistols, said in a statement. "With the 'major' parties competing to see who can be most strident in encouraging different standards for the queer communities, it's more important than ever that we stand up for ourselves – and support candidates who stand with us."

And once again it proves that politics makes for strange bedfellows indeed.

Don't you just look so studly in your tight leather pants with your Mauser Broomstick!

Can children be served Halal?

While the title of this post was formulated some time back and for a different reason, I felt that with the events that have unfolded since the tragedy in Beslan it would be more appropriate to use it to expose the fraud that is perpetrated in the name of Islam. It seems that the spiritual leader of the Islamic group Al-Muhajiroun, Omar Bakri Mohammed, decided to weigh in on the tragedy in an interview in The Sunday Telegraph.

His views on taking women and children hostage are rather interesting given that Islam considers this a major sin. For the article are his comments:

Omar Bakri Mohammed, the spiritual leader of the extremist sect al-Muhajiroun, said that holding women and children hostage would be a reasonable course of action for a Muslim who has suffered under British rule.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Mr Mohammed said: "If an Iraqi Muslim carried out an attack like that in Britain, it would be justified because Britain has carried out acts of terrorism in Iraq.

"As long as the Iraqi did not deliberately kill women and children, and they were killed in the crossfire, that would be okay."

Now let me get this stright - it is fine to take women and children as hostages as long as you don't kill them. If shooting starts and they die in the process then that is just fine as long as you didn't do it yourself. This ranks right up there with the Catholic Church's buy now and sin later policy of selling indulgences.

I can see these criminals planning it all now. "Let's take over this school, and we'll do something that will look like an accident and it'll get the Russians shooting and all the hostages will die. We'll die too, but we're going to Paradise! It'll be nothing but hapiness and fucking virgins for the rest of eternity!"

Sorry to rain on your happy parade Mohammed, Mahmoud, Habib, et al. The only virgins you'll be fucking are short, have four legs and are wooly. And it wont be all happy, happy where you'll be delighting in the family pastime of animal husbandry. If taking women and children hostage is not allowed in your religion then why not release all of them. But I forgot, if you'd have done that then you wouldn't have had many (or any hostages) and the Russians would have mowed you down. Then again, they might have gassed you and took you alive. I hear that the cells in the basement of the Lubiyanka are better now that when Felix Dzerzhinsky was running things.

In the eyes of the law, it does not matter whether you pulled the trigger or not you are guilty of murder. It seems that God takes a similar tack on things. And I'm sure that Allah does too, when his message is being twisted and perverted by some of His faithful followers.

If Allah is as merciful as the Qu'ran says he is then perchance one day he might take Omar Bakri Mohammed on a trip to show him where the slime from Beslan ended up. I'd love hear his take on what their Paradise is like.

The Tale of the Great Whatsit (part deux)

Over at the Pan Galactic Bloggerblaster the other day, Nate regaled his readers with The Tale of the Great Whatsit. We were told the horrible truth about the Whatsit and why we are mad at it.

What you don't know... What the Whatsit would never let you know... is there is actually only one machine, and the Whatsit built the damned thing. It only looks like three machines. The machine doesn't actually harm the Whatsit at all. In fact, the cranking of the cranks actually gives the Whatsit quite a buzz. So while you are scurrying about investigating cranks and levers, spending money on Crank Ads, and trying to convince your friend that one crank is far more effective than the others... The Whatsit is happily mocking you, robbing you blind, sleeping with your wife, and generally being an Ass. Which, now that I think of it, is why you are in fact mad at the Whatsit in the first place...

The truth is that I do not believe in the System. I haven't for years. There are too many things in the history of this country that don't quite add up. With that said, I can state that I still vote. Why? I will come back to that momentarily. The Great Whatsit needs to have some flesh added to its bones.

The Great Whatsit is exactly what Nate claims it to be - it is a distraction for the masses. Folks come and tinker and pull levers and try to figure out what makes the Whatsit tick. Some continue to play with it in utter fascination; attracted by the spectacle that it makes of itself. Others get bored and go home never to return. Still other look upon it and wonder who is pulling the Whatsits levers.

The Whatsit is composed of the government and the media. They create the circus that distracts the great mass of folks from lever pulling that goes on from behind the curtain. Those that pull the levers of the Whatsit and create the Great Spectacle are not kings, they are kingmakers. They do not govern, they advise. Most of all, they wish to control those who rule. Their darkest fear is those whom they cannot control. Who are these kingmakers and power brokers? For many they are household names and they can be found inside the pages of The Shadows of Power: The Council on Foreign Relations and the American Decline.

Watching the news even the sees that players in the two rings of the circus put on by the Great Whatsit look and sound the same. And having seen exactly what the Whatsit wanted them to see, they decide to stay home. Some get mad and stay home, other see the whole thing as futile. Either way, they give the Whatsit exactly what its masters want. Fewer and fewer people to control. Fewer voters to go vote.

Why would the Whatsit want fewer voters? Would it not be better to have more attracted to the specatcle? The short answer is no. If you are a minority and you wish to rule a majority, you must first convince the majority to not participate. Those then that choose to stay in, you have to convince that there are only the choices that you have laid before them. Anyone who doesn't subscribe to your plan you marginalize or convince them to stay home.

By now it should be reasonably clear how you cannot believe in the system and still participate. Every time I pull the lever (in this case for L) I know that I am telling those that want to control me to take a hike. I know that I am not completely free of their machinations, but I desire to be and will work until I take my last breath to see them brought before the public and hanged.

Yes Nate, there is a Great Whatsit and there are many evil folks that control it. It is time my friends to drive them from our temple.

You are an American first ...

With all the banter on Vox Popoli regarding the upcoming possible presidential election and whether or not to vote and if your vote for a third party candidate steals a vote from the Republicrat candidates, I am reminded of a story that my grandmother told me about her parish priest.

Her priest took a trip to Poland in the late 1970's to visit family. While standing in the customs line at the Warsaw airport, he overheard one of the customs officers bragging about being a Communist. When it was the priests' turn to pass through customs, he told the customs agent:

You are a Pole first, after that you can whatever you want to be.

My grandmother said that her parish priest did not have to buy a drink for the entire night.

These days it seems that what that priest said seems to apply in this country more now than ever before. It does not matter whether you were born on this soil or you raised your right hand and took the oath of citizenship; you are an American. As an American, it is your civic duty to insure that our country is governed well by people who respect the Constitution. It is your civic duty to cast out those who would temple on the most sacred document of our Republic. As an American you must vote. You must vote to restore good governance upon our lands. You must vote to drive the nonsensicalness from the sacred temples of our Republic.

These days are dark indeed for our Republic. Never in our history has there ever been talk of postponing a November election. Even in midst of the War Between the States, an election was held. There was no postponement of elections during World War Two. Those in Washington who speak of election postponments are the worst sort of blasphemers. Those who would seek to empower the Federal government with the "legal ability" to postpone or stop the election are the most vile defilers of our Republic.

These are the people that should be driven out like snakes are driven out from the barn. Like the poisonous snake that loses its head by the end of the shovel, these defilers should be cast into the darkest pits.

You are an American and you must vote.

You do not waste your vote by voting for the candidate of your choice even if that person loses the election. You waste your vote by not voting.

By voting for the candidate of your choice you cannot steal a vote from another candidate. Your vote is your property and it is impossible to steal from yourself.

As November approaches, we must be vigilant and keep from the reins of power those who would make us slaves. Just remember that those who wish to make us slaves have already built our jails. Should our election be postponed or outright cancelled, then it our civic duty as Americans to forcibly turn out those who would impose their tyranny upon us. Whether that event will be peaceable or violent is their decision.

Please say a prayer for our Republic.

Oh where, oh where has my little muse gone

I want to start off by apologizing to those of you who stop by looking for something new only to find the cupboard is bare. I have been trying to write lately but my muse has not been well focused. Writing can be a difficult exercise moreso if you cannot maintain your mental focus. It becomes almost impossible when you are falling asleep when you concentrate.

For several years I have suffered unknowingly from sleep apnea. You never realize how much something is wearing you down until you get so that you never feel better than tired. I can honestly say that after a week of having a decent nights sleep that my head feels better and I don't feel sluggish in the morning. I'm not back to 100% though.

When my muse is through yawning and reawakens I will have plenty to say. Hopefully between now and then I might be able to squeeze out a few words.

The mighty douchebag

There is perhaps nothing worse in the world than a Judas. The biggest difference between the biblical Judas and the modern one is that after taking his silver pieces and betraying what he believed in, he committed suicide. Our modern Judas goes out and writes books, appears on all the appropriate chat shows, does lectures and generally enriches himself.

Such is the case with David Brock. Once upon a time our modern Judas worked for the right wing starting out as a reporter for the Washington Times. With sweat and effort he worked his way up the right wing media machine and became one of its minor deities spewing forth all sorts of vitriol upon the general masses.

Then, in the 1990's, he developed a conscience. And with this new found conscience he went on to write his tearful apology to the liberal masses called "Blinded by the Right". After reading the tear soaked dust jacket of this wonderful masterpiece to the gods of the commie pinkos, I realized that the real Judas had the right idea. Today, over at the home of journalistic integrity Salon.com is an excerpt from the latest volume in Brock's quest to become a commie pinko guy kisser The Republican Noise Machine.

His premise is that the evil right wing boogerheaded media machine (and he knows all the boogerheads because he was one) is skewing the views of the average American to the right. David Brock's explanation is educational on why liberal power has waned and is below.

People ask me, a former insider, how the Republican Right has won political and ideological power with such seeming ease and why Democrats, despite winning the most votes in the last three presidential elections, seem to be caught in a downward spiral, still able to win at the ballot box but steadily losing the battle for hearts and minds.

While it is not the only answer, my answer is: It's the media, stupid.

When I say this, in a more respectful way, to folks outside the right wing, I usually get either of two responses. Those who receive their news from the New York Times and National Public Radio give me blank stares. They are living in a rarefied media culture -- one that prizes accuracy, fairness, and civility -- that is no longer representative of the media as a whole. Those who have heard snippets of Rush Limbaugh's radio show, have caught a glimpse of Bill O'Reilly's temper tantrums on the FOX News Channel, or occasionally peruse the editorials in the Wall Street Journal think I'm a Cassandra. They view this media as self-discrediting and therefore irrelevant. They are living in a vacuum of denial.

Those who understand what I mean are either members of the media itself, have read media-criticism books or Internet sites devoted to the subject, or are in the political trenches every day dealing with the media. The gap between those who recognize right-wing media power for what it is and those who don't is wide and deep, as if they inhabit parallel universes. The gap is dangerous to democracy and needs to be closed.

What is amazing is that objects of accurate and fair reporting, the The New York Times and National Public Radio are accurate and fair if and only if the reader or listener is aware of their left wing bias and takes measures to balance it out. Equally amazing is how he picks up on the trend of the right wing media to shout down their opponents and claim that there is a liberal media bias against them while they exclude all of the right wing media outlets from purview. When your contention is that there is conservative media bias that is threatening the foundations of our democracy and you are more than willing to exclude from two principal sources of liberal media, then your argument for bias no longer holds water.

While David Brock succeeds in faulting the media for the problems that our democratic (I never knew we lived in a democracy - guess I'll have to demand that my Congressman give back his paycheck - yeah, right ) society is facing, he misses the point entirely. The blame lies squarely at the feet of both the liberals and conservatives. Over the last twenty plus years both sides have worked to drive the news down to its least common denominator. What is once a respected and reasonably accurate source of information (American media in general) has become little better than the tabloids.

Is it any wonder why the foundations of our country are threatened?

The Pope Speaks!

Welcome to The Daily Spew run by His Most High Holiness Pope Cleophus I.
